Hugh Webster

Hugh Webster (born August 6, 1943) is a former Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's 24th Senate district district, including constituents in Alamance and Caswell counties. A farmer and accountant from Burlington, North Carolina, Sen. Webster served five terms in the state Senate until he was defeated for re-election on November 7, 2006 by Tony Foriest.
In 2008, Webster challenged U.S. Rep. Brad Miller to represent North Carolina's 13th congressional district. Webster was appointed Register of Deeds for Alamance County, North Carolina in 2011. During a 2012 Republican convention, Webster referred to Democratic justices of the North Carolina Supreme Court as "retarded."〔(Burlington Times-News )〕
